Totally agree, Rosie. I've adopted a similar approach of stepping away from X, switching my profile to private and leaving dormant with a holding message for the same reasons. I've been experimenting with Mastodon, Threads and Bluesky. Also created a fediverse username for my blog via an ActivityPub plugin and will see what happens when it 'publishes' any new content.

It's the federated bit that's newer, as we've always been multi-channel. What I'd love to see is more channel to channel integrations or connections. Also, domain ownership being extended into creation of usernames for verification and content syndication.

If everyone had a domain and their own smallholding of the web, social/content products could serve as farmer's markets, event centres etc.

Time will tell. At the moment, I'm doing the rounds as you are, publishing on A, then on B, then C, and so on... Plus LinkedIn of course (which I have most success on but still baffles me)
